Cooking in the sink....

No, not me!! :) The boys were having fun cooking supper in the bathroom sink with their kitchen toys and food. I love watching their creativity. They played for a good hour or so. I'm not sure about the mess, luckily it is only water. I think I can handle that.
Lane says "Hot"!! The water was actually so cold that Bryce's arms and hands were like icicles.
"Safety" glasses and all!! You know cooking can be dangerous?!

Crazy Sunday...

It was off to the Quick Care with Bryce after mtg.. Once again for the third morning in a row, he woke up during the night and early morning screaming with ear pain. His buttons(tubes) have just recently fallen into the ear canal and BOOM...first thing you know... we have a ear infection. He has had a cough all week and sinus drainage, so this was just another complication. We left Jay and Lane at Nana and Pawpaw's for pizza after mtg. and a quick ride on the new boat. Little man and I came home after seeing the doctor, took medicine and laid down for a nap.
While it was quiet this afternoon, our little parakeet, Pete, the boys agreed was a good name, started chirping and tweeting...exciting!!:) He ate for the first time this morning while we were gone to mtg.. Both a good sign he is coming around!!

New pet....

My 2ND graders have voted for a class pet ...the results are in: PARAKEET.
So today while running errands, I stopped by the pet store and got one and all the supplies. I surprised Jay and the boys by bringing one home..cage and all. The picture above is just a photo I found. I'll post pictures of ours once the bird becomes acclimated to our household. I am going to keep him here at home for the next 2-3 weeks. I hope to have him finger-tamed and at ease before I put him in a room full of 20 eight year olds. The boys have been checking on him all evening and wonder why he won't eat, drink or fall asleep when they tell him to. We will keep you up to date as we come up with a name and he learns new tricks.

Daddy's New Boat

The picture is a little fuzzy, but you get the idea they are very happy with daddy's purchase!! Jay picked up our new boat this a.m.. This boat is more appropriate with the boys being small and I don't have to worry about them going over the edge, like our last one. Daddy can still take it out fishing, but we can joy ride also. Maybe tomorrow afternoon if it warms up, we will take our first boat ride.
Ahoy, mates'!!
Checking it all out!!

Food on the Brain......

A cold damp morning.......so why not look for good recipes? I've got food on the brain, can you tell?:) This recipe is form the www.elise.com website( Simply Recipes). I am going to fix this this evening with chicken spaghetti. I'll let you know if it is as YUMMY as it looks. :P

8 oz shredded Mozzarella cheese
1 lb shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 to 1 cup chopped green onion (to taste)
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 Tbsp sour cream (optional)
3-4 cloves garlic, minced
1 stick unsalted butter (1/2 cup, 4 ounces), softened to the point of being slightly melted
1 to 2 loaves of French or Italian bread (I used Ciabatta), depending on the size of the loaves
1 In a large bowl, mix together the cheeses and the green onion. Stir in the mayonnaise and sour cream. In a separate small bowl blend the butter and garlic until smooth. Add the butter mixture to the cheese mixture.

2 Preheat broiler. Slice loaf of bread in half horizontally, lay crust side down. Spread cheese mixture over the bread. Place under the broiler until nicely browned, about 3 to 5 minutes.

3 Remove from broiler and let sit for 5 minutes until cool enough to handle. Slice the bread with a bread knife. Serve.

Makes 30 to 40 slices.

Saturday's Fun..

Western Wars.....
Lane found a costume from Auntie Peggy in his closet this morning and added his cowboy hat and new play gun from daddy. I love how sober they both are!!:) Off to conquer the West....
Bryce settled for a cloth diaper as a kerchief(sp?).

Quiet play
I found him playing and singing under the kitchen table this morning. He can play off by himself so well. Lane on the other hand is like Mommy and prefers to be where the action is with others.

PLAYDOH FUN

This was a box set with the playdoh and tools from Kohl's after Christmas sale- originally $29.99 for $9.99. This was the first time we got it out and what a hit!! :) Everything has to do with breakfast. Which is one of the boy's favorite meals.

Bryce's breakfast- waffles, bacon, berries, and eggs with a little help from Mommy.

Lane's Creation- breakfast wrap, bacon, onions, and berries.
