More bathroom talk

Literally....... we accomplished more on the guest bath. I absolutely love(!!) how it is all coming together, and especially my hard-working husband who has labored to put up the cedar and tile!! Thanks dear! His knees and back are paying for it all. A shower and some prescription strength Ibuprofen are sure helping!;-)
Our special order shower door came in yesterday at Lowes, so after the grout it will be hanging the shower door, installing the new cabinet and toilet, and then just the minor details like the faucet, lighting, blinds, etc.

We had enough cedar left over that Jay decided to line the linen closet with cedar. I am loving that for blankets and such. A plus for selling the house someday, too!

More updates to come soon!!

Dog's Life!!

Buster was sunny this afternoon on the golfcart while I was painting in the garage! He is such a naughty big puppy! He gets into everything! The boys have learned not to leave any of their toys just laying around outside. NOTICE the white paint on his upper lip, he decided to sniff the door I was working on while wet!! I thought it was too funny!!

Bathroom Remodeling

Well, things are looking up!! Just wanted to post an update on the bathroom. We have decided on a different tile that we think will be neutral. I can always change the paint later if needed. I think so far it looks pretty good. ;-) Considering what we started with!! Somehow in all the excitement to start the demolition, I forgot to take a picture of "before"! Notice in the first picture the yellow walls(below) and floral/foil wallpaper! YUCK!! Jay got about half of the cedar up this evening. My job is to finish painting the trim and closet door. This weekend we will tile/grout the floor. We ordered a new shower door, which will be in by Feb. 5.
My mom will be coming the next week to spend a few days with us for the Grandparent's Day celebration at the boy's school. We hope it will be usable by then, or Mom will be using the fifth wheel. We are looking forward to her coming!!
FYI- Our one bathroom for the time being is smelling MUCH better. One of Jay's employee's had a special product that absorbs foul odors, and WOW it works wonders!! ;)
Before - we removed a semi wall that separated the toilet from the counter, it will be much more open now.
New paint color

The bottom will have a wanes coating look with cedar.

The cedar with the new tile! I'm happy with this color!!

AAAHHHHHH!!

Where do I begin........I can feel the gray growing in fast and my nerves are wearing thin!!! First, we are in the process of remodeling our guest bathroom. We thought we had the tile and paint picked out and today after looking at the paint job again from yesterday, we aren't sure it works! So off to Lowe's we head after mtg.......back to square one....came home with several new tiles and paint samples......we laid them out and painted several areas to look at. The more we looked and thought it was only getting worse....HELP!! Can I just paint it white and be done?? NO!!
After thinking on it a bit, we are going to leave the paint and change the tile! We can always change that if need be! (I'll post pictures later.) At this point of the evening I was on the verge of nervous break down!!
WHEN.......should in walk Lane with paint all over the front of his 1 week old brand, new shoes!!! He had been rolling a paint roll around the yard! ;-? I was too frazzled to even muster a yell or scream......I found Jay and said this one is YOURS!!! After a quick wipe and wash in the washing machine, they still look like the following!! I am ready for a goodnight sleep, hoping tomorrow is a cheery day!!
Oh, how could I forget.......the only working bathroom in our house is filled with a putrid smell! Friday evening I could smell what I thought was a dead, furry rodent. As the evening wore on, Jay confirmed my sneaking suspicion, a mouse somewhere in the wall or attic!! The pest man just came and left some poison last week, because we found two baby mice(alive) upstairs. I guess it worked!! So we put the air purifier/sanitizer on high and closed the door. Needless to say we do the necessary things, get out and find a mirror or sink to do the rest!!
I know this is a lot to comprehend, tomorrow has to be a better day! Happy Monday!!

Nursery Rhyme Day

This week Bryce has been learning the popular nursey rhymes and Friday was Nursery Rhyme Day. They were to dress up as a nursery rhyme character and be able to recite the nursery rhyme(at least try). Bryce was "Jack" from Jack and Jill. He was so adorable!! Ms. Dance his teacher was the Little Old Woman in the Shoe.

Showing off his stitches, thank goodness they are not real!!

Our very own "Trapeze Artist"

This past weekend we got a trapeze bar at Lowe's for the boys' swingset. I knew it wouldn't take Lane long to figure it out! Here he is performing his newest moves! :-) Bryce wants to be just like brother, so with a little help from mom or dad he tries his best to do the same! We have had beautiful afternoons the past few days, so we've spent a good bit of time outside.

As close as you get!

This is the neatest stuff, InstaSnow, my friend Stacy introduced this on her blog. I ordered some last night. It is the closest we will ever come to playing in the snow!! ;-) The best thing is, it can be dried out and reused time after time and you don't have to get bundled up for the cold! I'll post pictures when ours arrives.

Ranch Life

Saturday evening the boys and I had fun building the Lincoln Log Ranch. It was fun to watch as they play with the cowboys and animals. I love these moments I have with the boys, soon they won't want to spend much time with mom! Mom is still pretty "cool" and I love it that way!;-)

Splurge!!

My sister-in-law had these on this morning and I had to have a pair for myself! So cute and from Target, no less. So I have ordered my own pair, just $19.99. They have them in a light sand(tan) also, I may get them too!

New recipe- Crockpot Candy

I found a new blog, A Year of Crockpotting (see my sidebar) and this was one of her recipes. Fritos in candy...at first I wasn't sure, but the more I thought about it they are salty, chocolatey, and crunchy...it's got to be good! I'm going to try these this weekend...I'll let you know just how good they are!

--1 stick of butter
--12 oz bag of chocolate chips
--2 T peanut butter (optional if you have allergies)
--1/2 cup brown sugar
--1/2 cup chopped peanuts (optional--we used honey roasted because that's what we had)
--2 cups Fritos
--2 cups Pretzels

The Directions:
Put the Fritos and the pretzels in a large Ziploc and smash until crumby. Set aside.
Line a 9 x 13 or so cookie sheet with Release foil or parchment paper. Set that aside, too.
Put the butter, the brown sugar, peanut butter, and chocolate chips into your crockpot and set on high for 1-2 hours or until everything is really melty and you can mix it well.
It took 1 hour, 15 minutes to melt nicely for me in a 6qt Smart Pot.
Stir in your pretzel and Frito pieces.

Using oven mits (use them! The crock is hot!) dump the hot candy out onto your lined cookie sheet and spread out with a wooden spoon. Sprinkle the peanut pieces on top.
Put the pan in the refrigerator for about an hour, or until candy has set completely. Break into pieces.

The Verdict.
Woah, mama! Man, these are amazing and wonderful and so scary in that they are SO good you want to take them all into a corner of the garage and eat them all by yourself.
Amazing. You must make them.

Comic Relief!

Bryce's teacher told me he had been telling her all about the "Big Bad Wolf" today, aka the Great Wolf Lodge. She knew of course what he was talking about, but knew I would get a good laugh out of it!! I surely did!!:-)

Toothless Wonder

Lane had Daddy pull his second tooth this evening! Here he is showing off his new smile, fresh out of the bath!!:) I wonder how much the tooth fairy will leave for this tooth?? Seems she pays well these days......just rumors I hear from my second graders, some get $2.00 or more....I only remember getting 50 cents, maybe even less! Must be inflation, I guess! :-)

Sci-port Discovery Center

On Friday all four of us went to the Sci-port Discovery Center nearby. It has been over a year since we've been and the boys are alittle older to enjoy more. We also watched the IMAX film "Grand Canyon". The boys enjoyed stacking the dominos and then watching them fall. This museum is ranked as one of the top 10 best museums in the Nation!! So nice that it is close by, we hope to go more often this year.

Bryce wanted to try out the bed of nails....amazing that it doesn't hurt!

Playing at the waterway table.

Lane is operating the crane will Bryce was loading the pouch with pipe. Notice their hard hats, Bryce's was falling off his head.
